SAINT JOSEPH ABBEY CHRISTMAS APPEAL

The celebration of the birth of Christ, with its tradition of gift-giving, is an exciting time of year, especially for children. This year, young Catholics of the Gulf South will be given a king-sized Christmas present they will enjoy for years to come: Camp Abbey. We know first-hand what a rich, enduring gift Camp Abbey is for the Church's young people, and we are blessed to have partnered with the Archdiocese of New Orleans to reopen Camp Abbey.

But, like any gift, this one did not come without sacrifice. Saint Joseph Woodworks, the cottage industry we created to provide us with a self-sufficient income, operated out of the camp buildings. This Christmas we appeal to you to help us cover the costs of relocating Saint Joseph Woodworks from the camp to the abbey. The move has been another challenge to our small enterprise, but we are receiving positive publicity and support, and we've been making steady progress.

As we celebrate this holy season, may the love, grace and brilliance of the story of the birth of Jesus fill your homes and the homes of your loved ones. Your intentions will be remembered by our monastic community during our Christmas liturgies and the approaching new year.

In the peace of Christ,
Abbot Justin Brown, O.S.B.
