Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College Flood Relief Benefit Information

On March 11 floodwaters from the Bogue Falaya inundated Saint Joseph Abbey and Seminary College with nearly two feet of water.

The outpouring of support from friends of the Abbey has been overwhelming. We have witnessed in amazement as dozens of churches, elementary schools, choir groups and volunteers have organized fundraising concerts, auctions, luncheons, and sales on our behalf to contribute to the recovery of our institution, and we have witnessed the financial need that this devastation has caused – an estimated $30 million – slowly being met with the overwhelming generosity of our community of faith, our loyal neighbors, friends, and supporters.

Ms. Saucier's 1st-grade class at St. Martin's Episcopal School visited ABBEE beekeeper Jeff Horchoff on June 1 to present him with bee hive equipment and a gift certificate to Mann Lake Honey Bee Supply Store. They helped raise $600 during a recent fundraiser they planned and held for ABBEE Honey after they heard most of the hives were lost in the March 11th flood. They sold bee-friendly plants to their school community. Jeff also gave a demonstration on his operation. (Click the photo to watch a story from WWL-TV)
