Brother Christopher & Brother Maximus Take First Monastic Vows
At Vespers on a Sunday evening last September, two novices took their first monastic vows in the Abbey Church. Congratulations to Dominic, who will now be known as Brother Christopher Schaefer, and Christian (with beard), who will now be known as Brother Maximus Salinas.
Brother Christopher, the oldest of five children, is from Victoria, Texas. Both of his parents are involved in ministry, with his father ordained a deacon in November. Br. Christopher spent two years at Saint Joseph Seminary College and received his Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas.
Brother Maximus was raised in Houston, Texas. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Texas A&M University. He studied as a seminarian here at Saint Joseph Seminary College for the Diocese of Brownsville, Texas, graduating in 2019. He is currently taking online courses in theology at Saint John's University in Minnesota.
